About the Crockerhill Action Group

We are a small action group of property owners recently formed to rid the hamlet of Crockerhill of the nuisance caused by a commercial garage that uses the highway in front of houses and a pub to store and repair large vehicles, e.g. coaches, buses, horseboxes, rescue trucks, highway maintainence lorries and removals vans etc. The nuisance started in March 2021. Prior to this date and with previous tenants of the garage operating from the same premises, there were no issues with the nuisance. All of the problems have occurred following the arrival of new tenants at the garage.

The highway was once the main road but it was by passed by the present A27 after an improved junction was created for visitors to Great Ballard School and Eartham village. At times inconsiderate parking prevents access to properties and farmland where horses are grazed.

The amount and close proximity of parking large vehicles up against the Winterton Arms pub and The Cottage adversely affects the setting of these listed buildings which the owners wish to restore and reinstate. There is also an issue with oil that leaks from the vehicles andcausing an environmental hazard.
